kc kids comics chronicles the lives of six friends who live in Kansas City's Crossroads Art District. Their looks and interests are diverse, but they all have a love of Kansas City that unites them. From a Jewish developer to a bohemian artist, a fashionista FBI agent to a heady hair stylist, and an average Joe to a space alien (?!) these friends butt heads, explore the city, and strive to make it better, each in their own way.
Read about each of the crew in the Character Profile section.
Kansas City is the seventh character. This beautiful Midwestern city shines through out the pages of these comics showing off its varied neighborhoods, architecture, and charm. This city which is currently in a state of renewal, transition, and artistic growth is romanticized with large color renderings of city scenes taken from my vast photo collection.
The Crossroads take the main stage as the setting for most of their daily activities. This neighborhoods is one of KC's most interesting, artistic, and urban.
All the characters live in lofts, based off real buildings but designed by me using SketchUp, a 3-D modeling program.
The Nelson Atkins Museum is a favorite KC landmark of mine, and the characters. It takes center stage in the beginning of the first issue, out now!
The famed Country Club Plaza district is another neighborhood featured in the upcoming issue. This 1920s shopping district was the first of its kind in the world and set the precedent for all 'life style centers' and suburban 'town centers' being built today. Although the urban location and beautiful architecture of our Plaza sets it apart.
